The first step is to realize God loves you and wants you to have eternal life.
The bible says, For God so loved the world that he gave His only begotten Son,
that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting
life(John 3:16)
The second step is to realize that you are sinful, and your sin separates you
from God.
God is holy and no sin can come into His presence. The bible says, righteouness
and judgement are the habitation of His throne(Psalm 97:2)
Man is sinful, for the bible says, ALL have sinned and come short of the glory
of God (Romans 3:23)
Sin separates man from God, But your iniquites have separated between you and
your God and your sins have hid His face from you(Isaiah 59:2)
The third step is to realize that only in JESUS CHRIST can forgiveness of sin
and salvation be yours.
Jesus said, I am the way, the truth and the life:no man cometh unto the Father,
but by me (John 14:6)
God loved us so much that He sent His son Jesus Christ to die on the cross to
provide the way of salvation.
The bible says, But God commendeth (proved) His love toward us in that while we
were yet sinners, Christ died for us(Romans 5:8)
Right now you may be thinking " I already know these things." Well, the bible
teaches that it is not a matter of just knowing these steps. You must act upon
what you know! To know these things and believe is not enough. The Bible says
that the devils also believe and tremble (James 2:19b)
The fourth step is to receive Jesus Christ as your personal savior and Lord.
The bible says, as many as received Him, to them gave he power to become sons of
God....(John 1:12)
We must ask to receive Him and His gift of eternal life. Jesus said, Behold I
stand at the door and knock: if any man hear my voice and open the door , I will
come into him..(Revelation 3:20)
